Deputies investigate ‘deadly incident’ at mobile home park in Dillon County

DILLON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Deputies are investigating after authorities responded to a deadly incident Tuesday morning at the Pine Village Mobile Home Park.

Dan Green said he heard gunshots ring out near his home early Monday morning.

“To have it happen right next to you, really hits you in the gut because it’s scary,” Green said. “I called the police as soon as I heard the first one and I heard about eight in total.”

Green said he hid behind his oven to stay safe.

“These aren’t very thick walls so bullets could go through them,” Green said.

Authorities responded to this mobile home park off Hwy 301 after 1:00 a.m. The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office simply called it a “deadly situation.” The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) said it was assisting in a shooting incident in the county.

Authorities have not said how many people were hurt or killed, nor have they released any information on potential suspects.

Lonnie Parker was looking at bullet holes in his daughter’s SUV. He said his future son-in-law was badly hurt.

“You got somebody fighting for their life,” Parker said. “I’m pretty sure the family would like to know why. There’s so many questions that need to be answered.”

Others came by to make sure their family members were okay.

“I just came by to check on my uncle over here,” Lee Owens said. “He’s just been shaken up, scared. He woke up this morning with all the gunfire. It’s scary.”
