Police: Student arrested for having BB gun at school

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) – Authorities in South Carolina say a high school student has been arrested for bringing a BB gun to school.

News outlets report 18-year-old Ja’Noah Graham was charged Tuesday with carrying a weapon on school grounds and possession of alcohol by a minor.

Rock Hill Police Lt. Michael Chavis says a student at Northwestern High School told school officials that another student had a gun in his bookbag. Chavis says the assistant principal and the school resource officer searched Graham’s bag and found the BB gun and an open bottle of alcohol.

Chavis says no one was injured. Rock Hill school district spokesman Mychal Frost says parents were notified of the incident.

It’s unclear whether Graham has an attorney who can comment.
