FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – The sheriff’s office has called off the search for three suspects in a wooded area along Alligator Road.
One person is in custody, a juvenile, who is cooperating with investigators to identify the others, according to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office. The search started before 5 a.m. and was canceled just after 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
The suspects broke into a Florence police officer and a county deputy’s car, among others, according to deputies. A helicopter, special operations deputies and K-9 units were used in the manhunt.
Florence County Chief Deputy Glen Kirby said one person was caught around 7 a.m. “After about a 2-and-a-half hour search. We were able to apprehend one suspect, and we saw three more suspects running away,” Kirby said.
The suspects may be responsible for numerous car thefts, according to the sheriff’s office.
