HARTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – An attempted murder charge for one of the suspects in a deadly shooting at a Hartsville nightclub will be upgraded to murder.
According to Lt. Mark Blair, with the Hartsville Police Department, one of the attempted murder warrants for Darius Dickey, 20, will be upgraded to murder as a result of the passing of Coker University student Garrett Bakhsh.
Warrants obtained by News13 allege that Dickey “did brandish a firearm at Mac’s Lounge” during “an altercation on the dance floor area.”
Warrants also allege that Dickey “fired numerous rounds into a crowded bar at a subject, to which he shot several other patrons inside the bar.”
Warrants for Davijon Khalil McCall allege that McCall “did with malice aforethought discharge a firearm at the victim.” Witnesses identified McCall and observed him discharge a firearm, striking the victim in the head area, warrants also said.
McCall was arrested later at a Durham, North Carolina, apartment.
According to an incident report from Hartsville police, officers responded to Mac’s Lounge around 2 a.m. on January 26 for a report of gunfire and people injured.
“It was very chaotic; people were running in all directions and some were still hunkered down using vehicles as cover,” the report states.
The report added the responding officer initially saw three victims: one victim was found in the patio area, another victim was found next to a pool table, and another victim was found just inside a doorway.
“There were at least two more wounded just inside the door to the left,” the report also says. A responding officer was also told by witnesses “there was at least one more down over near the car wash, which is directly north of the bar.” The responding officer said in the report they weren’t able to find any victims by the car wash, but began receiving reports of people showing up at a nearby hospital after being brought by private vehicles.
Two people killed in the shooting early Sunday morning at Mac’s Lounge on Camden Avenue have been identified as Dicaprio Collins, 21, and Bryan Robinson, 29. On Tuesday night, the coroner reported Garrett Bakhsh, 18, a student at Coker University from Maryland, also died.
