FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – Deputies responded Friday to an armed robbery at Young’s Food Store on Highway 52, just south of Florence, according to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Deputy Glen Kirby said there was a chase which ended after ‘several miles of cutting through the countryside.’

The chase ended in the Elim community.

Chief Kirby said two suspects were arrested.

They’ve been identified by authorities as Tyler Burch, 22, and Tyvontae Jupiter, 22.

Burch has been charged with:

  • Robbery/ armed robbery, robbery while armed or allegedly armed with a deadly weapon
  • Weapons/ possession of weapon during violent crime, if not also sentenced to life without parole or death
  • Drugs/ possession of 28 grams (1 oz) or less of marijuana or 10 grams or less of hash- first offense

Jupiter has been charged with:

  • Failure to stop for a blue light, no injury or death- first offense
  • Drugs/ possession of 28 grams (1 oz) or less of marijuana or 10 grams or less of hash- first offense
  • Accessory/ Accessory after the fact to felony A, B, C or murder

Both are being held at the Florence County Detention Center. They were booked in Saturday morning.

Chief Kirby added that the sheriff’s office was able to respond quickly. He said Deputy Larry King did ‘an excellent job during the chase and the arrests.’
