UPDATE: The man found shot to death near a convenience store in Florence has been identified as Tydrecus Deshawn Williams. He was 18-years-old and from Florence.

He was found outside of the Speedy Mart Convenience Store at the intersection of West Lucas and North Irby streets. His body will be autopsied at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

The incident is being investigated by the Florence Police Department. No further details are being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.

News13 Annie Mapp spoke with store employees and discovered a cashier was working when the shooting happened. Employees did not want to comment on camera, but nearby neighbors said they also heard the shots.

“I woke up, and it was a bunch of people. I couldn’t figure out what was going on. My old lady told me she heard some shots, and I walked outside and that’s when I saw all the cars,” said Joe McCoy.


FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – A man was found dead near a Florence convenience store after a shooting, police said.

Officers responded to a shooting in the 200 block of Lucas Street around 3:41 a.m. Thursday for a shooting, Florence police said. Officers found the victim, who had died from his injuries, behind the Speedy Mart located at 207 West Lucas Street.

The case is under investigation by the Florence Police Department and the Florence County Coroner’s Office.
