DILLON, SC (WBTW) – Dillon-mayor elect Corey Jackson has been indicted on 11 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to the Dillon County Clerk of Court.

The indictments were handed up against Jackson by a county grand jury Thursday morning.

We’ve reached out to Jackson’s attorney, Mary Rose Parham.

Parham released the following statement to News13:

“A grand jury indictment requires no higher level of proof than any arrest warrant in our state. We knew that the attorney generals office would obtain an indictment. Corey looks forward to his day in court.”

News13 previously obtained warrants for Jackson in early May.

Jackson previously turned himself in at the Dillon County Detention Center on May 8, according to the center. Jackson was given a $50,000 bond. He posted bond and was released.

News13 previously reported that the City of Dillon delayed Jackson’s swearing in ceremony for mayor.

On May 10, News13 reported that Jackson was arrested for driving under suspension.

In April, News13 reported that Jackson was part of an investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Jackson won the April runoff election for Dillon mayor, taking over for current Mayor Todd Davis who has held the post for over 15 years.
