HARTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – A man has been arrested in connection to a deadly Hartsville shooting.
Marqueze Robinson, 21, was arrested Wednesday morning, according to a press release from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office. Robinson has been charged with murder and deputies said they expect additional charges.
Bond was denied Robinson on Wednesday afternoon. The judge also placed a restraining order on Robinson to prevent him from contacting the victim’s family.
His first initial court appearance is scheduled for September 11 and a second appearance is scheduled for October 2 at the Darlington County courthouse.
The shooting happened at the intersection of W. Bobo Newsom Hwy. and W. Old Camden Rd. on Sunday morning, the release said.
According to the release, investigators allege that Robinson shot Coe while Coe was on a motorcycle. Coe then allegedly “retreated” to a nearby Markette Convenience store.
Investigators also said they believe the two knew each other and this was not a random incident.
Coe’s mother said the news is still hard for the family to believe.
“I was out relaxing when I got the disturbing news. Someone hit on my door and said that about my son. It seems like a nightmare. I was like I need to wake up again because this hurts,” said Ruby Coe.
According to Coe’s mother, he leaves behind two small children ages one and four.
