LONGS AREA, SC (WBTW) – Two people have been charged after allegedly beating, robbing, and shooting at a pizza delivery driver in Horry County.
Horry County police received a report of an armed robbery near Plantation Drive in the Longs area around 8 p.m. on May 23, according to a press release from the Horry County Police Department. Officers responded and “learned that a pizza delivery driver had been robbed of his delivery order and attacked by two men.”
“The victim reported suffering blows to multiple areas of his body,” the release said. “Following the initial physical attack, the victim reported that he climbed back in his vehicle and attempted to leave the area; however, he became disoriented and turned the wrong way, ultimately leading him back to where the suspects had fled.”
The victim reportedly said one of the suspects then pulled out a gun and fired at the victim’s car, according to the release. “The victim reportedly escaped by backing away until he could get turned around.”
Ja’Rule Nathan Ford, 17, of Longs, has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and strong arm robbery.
A second person, who is a juvenile, is facing the same charges.
Ford was booked in to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center around 2:37 p.m. Wednesday and remains in the center as of 4:15 p.m. Thursday. His bond has been set at $70,000.
