CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Sidney Moorer has been found guilty in his retrial for the kidnapping of Heather Elvis. She disappeared in 2013.
A jury found Moorer guilty on Wednesday in an Horry County courtroom. It took the jury less than two hours to find Sidney guilty.
Moorer was sentenced to 30 years for kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. The sentences will run concurrently.
Before the judge handed down that sentence, Sidney made a plea to the judge, maintaining his innocence.
If I could finally give them closure, I would. There’s nothing I can tell them to give them any closure. I have children of my own. I get it. There’s nothing I can give them for closure.”

Heather’s family continues to hold on to hope that one day he can.
This is over but we still haven’t found Heather and it was like I was telling the judge. There has to be something more. There has to be something more than we can hold over their head so they’ll talk.

The defense says they’re disappointed by the verdict. The prosecution did not give an immediate comment but we have learned the gag order in the case has been lifted.
No court was held Tuesday.
On Monday, the state finished testimony. A forensics investigator took the stand first to talk about the GPS navigator in Sidney Moorer’s truck as his retrial continues.
Moorer’s trial began last week. On Tuesday, opening statements and witness testimony began. On Thursday, Jill Domogauer, a crime scene investigator with the Horry County Police Department, took the stand. She testified to processing Heather Elvis’ car, where she says she found no blood nor sign of struggle.
