CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – An Horry County man has been arrested for murder and attempted murder in connection with a deadly shooting.
According to Mikayla Moskov, with Horry County police, Tylik Jervon Griffin has been charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with a deadly shooting that happened in the Freemont community of Longs on January 3.
Booking records show Griffin was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 6:44 p.m. Tuesday. He remains in the center as of 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Tyrell Vanquiz Harrison, 20, of Longs, was charged last week in connection with the shooting. Harrison is charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to a press release from Horry County police.
Harrison was denied bond on January 4.
The shooting happened on Plantation Drive in the Freemont area of Longs around 4 a.m. on January 3.
The victim who died was identified by the coroner’s office as Tyrone Ford, 49, of the Longs area. The victim also goes by the name Tyrone Davis.
He died by a gunshot wound to a vital organ causing mass trauma, the coroner’s office said.
When an officer arrived on scene, he approached a vehicle with several people in it, according to a police report. Witnesses there told the officer individuals inside had been shot, the report continued.
The report said that’s when the officer saw two men in the vehicle who both were covered in blood. The driver appeared to be awake but could not speak, while the passenger was unresponsive, the report said.
