LORIS, S.C. (WBTW) – State Department of Revenue agents charged an Horry County contractor with tax evasion on Monday.
Nick Angelo Kaltsunis, 50, of Loris, was charged with four counts of attempting to evade or defeat a tax.
According to affidavits, Kaltsunis underreported a total of $492,266 in gross income on his tax returns, claiming a total of $6,310 in refunds when in fact his total tax liability for tax years 2014-2017 was $8,487.
Kaltsunis is accused of evading an assessment of $14,797 in taxes due.
If convicted, Kaltsunis faces up to five years in prison and/or a fine up to $10,000 for each charge, plus the cost of prosecution.
Kaltsunis is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Facility in Conway pending a bond hearing.
