CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – One person has been charged after an Horry County Police Department patrol vehicle was hit by an impaired driver.
An HCPD patrol vehicle was hit by an impaired driver around 2 a.m. Sunday near Highway 701 and Highway 22 in the Conway area, according to a press release from the department.
K9 Handler Rabon, Constable Rabon, and Sergeant Buckingham were on the scene during the incident, the release said. All were uninjured.
K9 Ori was in the vehicle when the crash happened, the release also said. K9 Ori suffered “a minor abrasion under his right eye.”

The crash happened “while officers were assisting with a vehicle tow after an arrest.”
The South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the crash and K9 Ori was taken to a local emergency animal hospital, treated, cleared, and released.
SCHP arrested Celestino Luria, 42, of Conway, according to the release. “He faces charges of driving under the influence, failure to sign registration card, failure to maintain proof of insurance, possession of more than one driver’s license, and violation of emergency safety scene management law.”
