FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) – An armed robber and his female get-away driver were sentenced today for holding up two businesses in Myrtle Beach.
The couple is known for a string of armed robberies and home invasions from Asheville, NC, to Myrtle Beach.
Jeremy Lamar Hayes, 29, was sentenced on Friday to 240 months in federal prison, followed by 5 years of supervision for an armed robbery at a dry cleaner in Myrtle Beach in January 2018. There is no parole in the federal system.
Hayes was found guilty of using a gun to demand money from the cleaner’s cash register and a victim’s wallet. He also took a cell phone and the store phone before leaving in a get-away car.
Hayes did the same thing the next day at a Myrtle Beach restaurant. Again, with the same get-away driver.
Police were able to find a car matching the description of the get-away vehicle. The driver of the car, Kennedy Boggs, 26, failed to stop, and after a pursuit, both Boggs and Hayes were caught.
Myrtle Beach Police found in the vehicle clothing matching the description of clothing worn by Hayes during the robberies. Hayes’ fingerprint was also located at the scene of the restaurant robbery. Boggs admitted that she had driven Hayes to the robberies and that during the vehicle pursuit, the firearm was thrown out of the car window. Officers later recovered the firearm.
Boggs pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery and aiding and abetting the brandishing of a firearm during a crime. She was sentenced to 108 months in federal prison, followed by 5 years of court-ordered supervision.
