Andrews man charged with murder, robbery in January death of 64-year-old man

ANDREWS, SC (WBTW) – An Andrews man has been charged with murder and robbery in the death of a 64-year-old man, a press release from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office said.

Dexter Jaamal Grant, 30, has been charged in the death of Bernard Patterson, of the Little Italy community in the Andrews area, according to the release. Grant faces charges of “murder, armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a handgun by persons prohibited.”  

Grant remains at the Georgetown County Detention Center.

The GCSO responded to 105 Olmstead St. on January 22, 2019 in reference to a man found dead in a yard, the release said. “Deputies quickly determined that the victim, Bernard Patterson, had been robbed and shot on his front porch after answering his door. Patterson succumbed to his injuries.”
