Matt has been a Digital First reporter for WBTW News13 since June 2019.
Growing up in suburban Massachusetts, Matt always knew he wanted to tell stories. From creating a newspaper for his childhood neighborhood to shooting newscasts on a cracked iPod, it always seemed to come naturally for him.
He took the first steps of turning a passion into a career at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. That’s where Matt earned his BA in journalism. While at QU, Matt produced and reported for Q30, the school’s station. He also interned with NBC Connecticut, NBC10 Boston and NBC New York. Before that, he interned at the Jerry Springer Show.
Fast forward to 2019, and find Matt in Myrtle Beach at News13. He is taking in the beauty of South Carolina’s people and scenery, and telling its stories all the while. He has a heavy heart for people who need help and is always looking for the next story.
Although Matt is still in the beginning stages of his career in journalism, he’s had the privilege to tell and work on a wide range of stories. He’s been involved in tackling big issues like affordable housing in Boston and government corruption in New York. He’s been in federal court for hearings on the college admission scandal, and been in a Myrtle Beach police car patrolling during hurricane evacuations.
Highlights so far for Matt at News13 include advocating for flooding victims, covering Hurricane Dorian’s impact on Ocean Boulevard and discovering why South Carolina is facing a teacher shortage.
When he’s not working, find Matt relaxing along the Grand Strand’s beaches, working out and practicing his music.
