Georgiaree Godfrey, better known as GG, joined the WSPA family in October 2017, but she’s always been a part of Carolina’s family. GG is a native of Columbia and spent most of her life in the Capital City before moving to New Orleans for college.
Her freshman year at Xavier University of Louisiana, Hurricane Katrina devastated the city. GG played a major role in documenting the recovery efforts, which she calls her first taste of journalism.
She then took her talents to New England, where she received her masters from Emerson College. While completing her graduate coursework, GG had the pleasure of attending former President Obama’s Second Inauguration and co-hosting WEBN’s “Presidential Special.”
From there she moved back down South to Florida where she covered news in the capital city of Tallahassee. After that, she moved a little further back up the east coast to Savannah, GA where she covered 2 major hurricanes and the rise of violence in the city.
GG’s favorite color is pink – she says the brighter the better – and candy is her favorite food.
