Frank is Chief Meteorologist at News 13 and was named Weathercaster of the Year by the South Carolina Broadcasters Association in 2014 and 2015.
Frank is married with three children. He is an avid gardener, beekeeper, and keeps chickens in his backyard. In his free time, Frank enjoys exploring the Carolinas with his family, spending time at the beach, fishing, and riding his vintage motorcycle.
Frank’s career includes many years of experience with severe weather in Tornado Alley and tropical forecasting in hurricane prone areas.
Oklahoma City is considered by many to be the most demanding severe weather market for a broadcast meteorologist. Frank spent 9 years working every shift at KOCO-TV, the ABC station in the heart of Tornado Alley. His most memorable weather event in Oklahoma was May 8th & 9th, 2003 when tornadoes hit Oklahoma City on back to back days.
The first tornado was an EF4 and hit the south side of town. The second tornado was an EF3 that came at night, hopped over Frank’s neighborhood and then touched back down 1/4 mile south of KOCO-TV, where Frank and the rest of the team stayed on air the entire time.
Before working in Oklahoma, Frank was a meteorologist and tornado chaser at KVII-TV in Amarillo, Texas. Frank caught and tracked several tornadoes through the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles.
In 1997, Frank worked along the Texas Gulf Coast, and was at KBMT-TV in Beaumont when Hurricane Danny formed offshore and moved toward Louisiana. Frank chased the hurricane to Grand Isle, Louisiana where he endured 90 mph winds and a storm surge that swamped the island.
Frank started his TV career in at KREX-TV in Grand Junction, Colorado and worked several years on the hurricane and snow warning teams at AccuWeather, a private weather company. Frank earned his degree in meteorology from Penn State University.
