MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Several businesses in the Forestbrook area of Horry County spent the day Wednesday fixing windows that were knocked out Tuesday night.

The break-ins happened near Belle Terre Boulevard, and business owners say their biggest fear now is for security in the area moving forward.

At AllBright Cleaners in Myrtle Beach, if you look at the workload for Laura Barnes, it looks like it’s business as usual.

But from the outside looking in, the front door shattered into pieces, stands as a reminder that things are far from normal.

I don’t feel safe, let’s put it that way. Normally, I do, but now knowing that happened, I don’t think they would hit us during the day, but now days, you never know about anybody,” said Barnes.

Barnes says the people around her are like family, and she doesn’t understand why they were targeted.

“Well, it’s devastating because you feel like you’ve been actually intruded on,” said Barnes.

One police report lists at least four businesses as victims of the break-ins, and in that report, no surveillance footage or evidence was found.

Just down the road, in another shopping we spoke with four different businesses who were also victims, and people there say that means something.

“That’s showing that we don’t have enough security, enough protection anymore,” said Barnes.

According to the police report, the officer says it did not appear anything was taken from the businesses.

We’re working to find out if police have any suspects in this case.

If you know anything, you’re asked to contact police.
