OMAHA, Neb (WBTW) – Coastal Carolina Baseball is heading to the College World Series Finals after a win Saturday evening against the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs.
The Chanticleers, in the CWS for the first time, beat TCU 7-5 in Omaha. Coastal bats got going early against TCU ace Jared Janczak. In the second, Tyler Chadwick homered to give CCU a 1-0 lead. In the next inning, Conway native G.K. Young lined an RBI triple to score two more, giving the Chants a 3-0 lead.
TCU did get a run back in the fourth, but Coastal answered right back and scored four runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Alex Cunningham turned in a strong outing for the Chants. He threw 6.1 innings and allowed three earned runs.
Coastal Carolina will face Arizona (48-22) in the CWS finals on Monday.
Arizona beat Oklahoma State 5-1 on Saturday to advance to the College World Series finals.
The Wildcats, who forced a second Bracket 1 final by beating the Cowboys 9-3 on Friday, returned to the best-of-three finals in their first CWS appearance since winning the 2012 national championship. They are 6-0 in NCAA Tournament elimination games.The Associated Press contributed to this article.
