MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Thousands of kids from all over the world came to Myrtle Beach this weekend for the National Archery in Schools World Tournament.

Participants in the tournament were all students in 4th  through 12th grade and most of them competed with their school team.

The students competed all weekend in the bull’s eye and 3-D events at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center and at Socastee High School

“I think it’s brought in a lot of tourists,” said Lieutenant Kim Leverich from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. She said many of the visitors she spoke with had never been to Myrtle Beach or South Carolina, but plan to come back.

The South Carolina DRN helped sponsor this event. The department believes it is important for these kids to learn about wildlife conservation as well as target shooting skills.
