NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — On Friday, July 15, 2016, the North Charleston Fire Department responded to a commercial warehouse fire located on Hock Avenue at 2:00 p.m.
The warehouse was overtaken by the fire by the time crews arrived, and they initiated a defensive fire attack from the exterior of the building.
A large portion of the warehouse suffered heavy damage but fire damage was limited from a portion of the building including the office area.
Fire crews continued to operate on the scene through Monday morning.
Heavy equipment is being used to separate the massive quantity of contents to completely extinguish the fire.
Four firefighters were transported to area hospitals yesterday for heat related illness and a minor injury. All four firefighters have since been released.
The North Charleston Fire Department received assistance from the following fire departments: City of Charleston, St. Andrews, Hanahan, Summerville, Mt. Pleasant as well as Charleston County EMS and County Rescue.
Other Tri-County agencies assisted with providing station coverage and support services.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and no more information is available at this time.
