SAVANNAH, Ga., (WSAV) – New disturbing details are emerging after a mother was found stabbed to death in her Savannah home Friday night.
Neighbors tell News 3 it’s usually quiet. But they’re left in shock after police say a teenager attacked and killed his own mother. Police arrested 17-year-old Tasciyah Brant for murder. Neighbors say it was the last thing they expected to hear.
“Friday evening, I was in my bed and one of her kids came in and said mom the police are down the street. I came outside and sit down and sure enough I saw the police down the street,” Bryant says.
Friday around 5 p.m. police got a call of an injured woman. When they arrived they found 38-year-old Wynter Brant dead in a pool of blood. She was stabbed repeatedly in the neck and back. The incident report reveals a bloody sword was found on the bathroom floor.
“Everybody is saddened about what has happened. I mean to learn of a mother. Such young youth with so many children for life to be taken at such a young age and leave so many young babies, we’re a little devastated about that,” neighbor, Dianne Briant says.
Officers found a 6-month and a two-year-old girl on the second floor of the home. Sadly it appears the toddler witnessed the crime –she had blood on her feet and clothing. Neighbors say those are Brant’s daughters.
“I cannot imagine coming home finding one of my children laid out or one of my loved one laid out or anything,” Bryant said.
Bryant says she has two kids and can’t imagine this happening to anyone. “I’m just devastated with the whole news of it. And to finally find out you know that it’s her son that they’ve gotten for her demise is just terrible. It just breaks the heart.”
People in this community say they’re here to wrap their arms around the family after such a tragic loss.
“They have my deepest sympathy and if it’s anything that we as the neighbors can do for them, not to hesitate, Bryant said.
