WILMINGTON, NC (WBTW)- New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office captured an escaped inmate Monday night after a car chase that ended in crash on Carolina Beach Road, Keith Acree of NC Department of Public Safety said.
The inmate, Stephen Singleton, escaped early Wednesday morning from New Hanover Correctional Center and was on the run five days before officers caught him, according to Acree.
The press release said Singleton was driving a stolen car and was injured in the crash.
He will face charges for felony escape from prison and additional charges for any other crimes he committed while on the loose.
