FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Pat Gibson Hye-Moore won Tuesday’s special election to fill the seat that used to belong to Ed Robinson on the Florence City Council.
No Republican ran for the primary yesterday for district 2 so Moore, who won the Democratic primary last month, officially won the position.
She had 76 votes to 24 write-in votes.
Hye- Moore said although the win is bittersweet because she will leave the Florence School District 2 board. She explains she is excited about the next chapter of her community activism career. Her goal is to give residents of District 2 a voice.
“That’s what I intend to do…get everybody involved, let everybody have a voice and I will speak for them,” explained Hye- Moore.
Hye- Moore will be sworn in next Monday at 5:30 at the Florence City Center.
