GAFFNEY, S.C.  – A Cherokee County Detention Officer has been arrested, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

28-year-old Joshua Lee Hardin has been charged with Distribution of Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Solicitation of Prostitution and Criminal Conspiracy.

According to a press release, Hardin met with a woman who provided him meth, and paid the woman for sexual favors.

The two hid the meth in a smokeless tobacco can, beneath the tobacco, the release says.

Hardin is being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center.

Sheriff Mueller sent out the following statement:

“Our officers work hard every day to maintain the trust of the community we serve and this one bad detention officer is not a reflection of the great officers who put their life on the line every day to serve and protect our community. The great men and women of the Sheriff’s Office will continue to serve with Honor, Professionalism, Excellence, Dedication and, above all, Integrity.”
