BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – Two people have been charged and are accused of smuggling marijuana to an inmate at Evans Correctional Institution in Bennettsville, according a press release from the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
SCDC Police Services released the arrest warrants for the two charged.
According to the arrest warrants, Denasia Omara Sanders and Mylaicia Au Jaleck Timere Wright have been charged in the case.
Warrants for Sanders allege that on March 16 at Evans Correctional Institution, Sanders “did possess approximately 142 grams of a green leafy substance that she passed off to an inmate” and “did plan and execute the smuggling of narcotics into a state prison.”
“Narcotic was found after an exchange was seen on camera between the defendant and inmate,” the warrants also said.
Warrants for Wright allege that on March 16, Wright “did aid in introducing approximately 142 grams of green leafy material” into Evans Correctional Institution “by driving her co-defendant and helping obtain the narcotics before.”
The inmate is expected to be charged later.
