SUMTER, SC (WBTW) – Sumter County officers are still looking for two men who broke into Tony’s Gun Shop early Friday morning and on Monday, officials announced a reward for anyone who could provide information that led to an arrest.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the National Shooting Sports Foundation have pledged $10,000 to anyone that could help investigators catch the suspects.
A press release from Sumter County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Ken Bell says police arrived to the store located off of Broad Street around 2 a.m. after the alarm went off.
Investigators say the thieves broke the lock from the front door, smashed the display cases and took numerous weapons before fleeing the scene on foot.
The value of the stolen weapons is estimated to be over $20,000, the release said.
K9 units responded to search for the suspects, but were unsuccessful. Investigators are still processing the scene.
The suspects are described as black males wearing dark clothing and baseball caps. Officers say one wore a red bandanna as a face mask and the other wore a blue bandanna.
