HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – A 60-year-old man died at a local hospital Wednesday after collapsing on a stretch of Horry County beach.
Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard says the incident happened around 12:55 p.m. in the Shore Drive area. Lifeguards assisted the man to shore before he collapsed.
Willard says Brooke Shelton, of Baldwin, NY, was pronounced dead at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Willard says Shelton was vacationing in the area.
An autopsy will happen Thursday. A cause of death has not been released.
