MURRELLS INLET, SC – To provide a safe environment for patients, employee partners and visitors, Tidelands Health is implementing new check-in requirements for hospital visitors.
Beginning Aug. 18 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital and Sept. 6 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital, visitors will be required to show a government-issued ID and wear a printed temporary pass during their visit. The pass, which expires daily, will include the visitor’s name and room number being visited. Individuals who don’t have a government-issued photo ID will still be issued a temporary pass after providing key information. Children also will be issued a pass.
“Asking our visitors to check in adds a layer of safety and security for our patients, visitors and staff and also lets us share information visitors may need, such as directions and other updates,” said Patrick Devlin, Tidelands Health director of safety, security and emergency preparedness. Devlin said visitors’ information and photo will be entered in a secure system so it can be easily retrieved at the time of their next visit. “We want to assure visitors that their information is kept confidential and is stored in a secure system using encryption that meets the same privacy standards we use for medical records,” Devlin said. “The information is used solely for the purpose of issuing an ID and making check-ins for future visits faster and easier.”
Passes will not be required in hospital common areas, such as the first-floor mall, outpatient services areas, outpatient pharmacy and cafeteria.-This is from a Press Release.
