WASHINGTON, NC – A young boy is dead after drowning in a Beaufort County motel’s pool.
According to Washington Police, it happened at the Days Inn on Carolina Avenue late Monday afternoon.
Multiple EMS crews and police officers responded to reported drowning, immediately performing CPR on him and the boy’s father, identified as 42-year-old Demetrius Emmanuel Palmer Sr.
The child, identified as 10-year-old Demetrius Emmanuel Palmer Jr., was taken to Vidant Beaufort Hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after, according to Washington Fire Chief Robbie Rose.
The boy’s father nearly drowned in the incident and was flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, and at last report was listed in critical condition.
