CONWAY AREA, SC (WBTW) – One person is dead and at least three others were taken to the hospital after a three-vehicle crash on Highway 501.
Flora Lorenzo Sanchez, of Myrtle Beach, died of injuries sustained in the accident, according to Patty Bellamy, deputy coroner with Horry County. Sanchez had been living in the Myrtle Beach area of about 20 years.
Two vehicles heading north Wednesday night on Hwy 501 collided and crossed over the center line, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins of S.C. Highway Patrol. The vehicles then struck a 2008 Ford Mustang that was traveling south, Collins said.
The driver of the Mustang died due to injuries sustained in the accident, Collins said.
Drivers of the other vehicles, a 2007 Mercedes and a 2017 Nissan Altima, were taken to the hospital with injuries. Their names have not been released.
The accident happened at about 7:10 p.m. on Hwy 501 and Wonderland Road.
No other details have been provided.
In all, three people were taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center and one person was taken to Conway Medical Center. Two people were entrapped in the crash.
“With our emergency equipment, we were able to extract those entrapped,” a tweet from Horry County Fire Rescue said.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol, Conway police, and Conway fire crews aided.

All lanes were blocked on US 501 S at the Waccamaw River Bridge due to the crash, according to SCHP’s website. Lanes were re-opened Wednesday evening.
