FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Three Pee Dee humane societies will recieve some financial help this year, thanks to money raised at a local festival.

The money raised from “The Grateful Dog” festival was given to the Florence, Darlington and Marlboro County humane societies.

Members from each of the humane societies gathered at Southern Hops Saturday morning for a $13,000 check presentation..

The Marlboro County Humane Society president says their portion of the money will be used to help with a great expense.

“We’re now able to do mobile spay and neuter clinics on a quarterly basis and that’s one of the main things in Marlboro County is that people do not spay and neuter for animals, so it allows us to do those clinics, work closely with the vets there, get the information out and educate the public,” said President Jennifer Hyduke.

The Grateful Dog festival will be held next year in July.

Event Organizer Sam Rogers say preparations are already underway to make it bigger and better.
