LUMBERTON, N.C. (WBTW)- A thrift shop in Lumberton was destroyed by a fire early Sunday morning.

Lumberton Fire Chief Paul Ivey says crews arrived around 3:30 a.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the roof of the structure.

Ivey says it took crews nearly six hours to get the fire controlled.The roof collapsed on the building during this time and now it is considered a total loss.

The fire chief says the fire is under investigation. Crews are working with Lumberton PD to determine cause.
