CONWAY, SC – With the recent weather forecast calling for tropical storm conditions for Friday, September 2, Coast RTA officials will continue monitoring weather conditions to determine any change in service. “At this time, Coast RTA will proceed with service using extreme caution. We urge passengers and the public to be mindful of the road conditions and allow extra time to reach their destinations. Service delay may occur due to inclement weather. Safety of Coast RTA’S passengers and employees comes first,” said Coast RTA General Manager Brian Piascik.
Service delays may be experienced due to severe weather conditions predicted for Coast RTA’s service area of Horry and Georgetown Counties throughout the day Friday. Current plans are to run the routes as scheduled with the exception of the Entertainment Shuttle, which will operate on less frequency and end at 6 PM Friday (the schedule of 11 AM-11 PM will resume Saturday). The 10:15 AM and 11:15 AM 7 Express have been cancelled and will resume on Saturday.
Should there be any further cancellations of service, announcements will be made through local media outlets and social media channels. Coast RTA operates the following fixed routes: No. 1 – Conway Circulator; No. 7 and No. 7 Express – Conway to Myrtle Beach; the No. 10 – Myrtle Beach Connector; the 15 North and 15 South, choice of routes with select stops along Kings Highway and Ocean Boulevard from 82nd Avenue North to Market Common; and, the 16 and 16 Express (Georgetown routes). Coast RTA fixed routes are $1.50 per ride for adults; $1.25 students with ID; $.75 per ride for senior citizens/disabled citizens and FREE for children, ages 6 and younger (limit 3 with paid adult). The Express Route fare from Georgetown is $2 per ride for adults. All transfers are $.25 each.
