MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A pipeline break in Alabama has caused a gas shortage along the east coast. That shortage has even affected gas stations in our area.
The Kroger gas station in Carolina Forest ran out of regular gas on Sunday morning. Staff members were not sure when they would get more fuel, but were told the shortage was caused by the pipeline break.
However, an extra truck was sent to the store and the pumps were back up on Sunday afternoon. Drivers said they were glad prices did not go up too much, and were glad the pumps weren’t down too long.
“I was on E, on empty,” said Michael Wright. “I was running on fumes and I came here at about 8:30 a.m. and they had the premium and high grade but no regular which is all I get.”
Colonial Pipeline announced on Saturday it would create a temporary pipeline to go around the break in the main pipeline.
