The Southeastern Health Foundation Advocates will host their 6th annual Boots & BBQ fundraiser event on Friday, Oct. 14 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Southeastern Agricultural Center Arena in Lumberton. Funds raised will be used to purchase an isolette for the neonatal intensive care unit at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. Brisson Drugs of St. Pauls is sponsoring live entertainment by the Mikele Buck Band. Tickets are $60 for individuals or $120 for couples. Gibson Cancer Center (GCC) will host a Fall Bazaar to raise funds for its navigation fund for patients in need. Southeastern Health will host a breast cancer awareness Hope, Faith, Courage event on Friday, Oct. 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Biggs Park Mall in Lumberton. The event will feature breast cancer awareness booths, entertainment and light refreshments. The event will also offer free breast exams by a mid-level provider on the Wellness on Wheels (W.O.W.) mobile unit which will be parked at the front of the mall. If the breast exam indicates that a mammogram is needed, immediate referrals will be made to Southeastern Radiology Associates. Navigators will be on hand to file insurance or to determine alternate methods of payment through programs such as BCCC for those without insurance coverage for mammograms. Pre-registration for the free exam is requested by calling (910) 671-5762.
