PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WBTW) – Hurricane Matthew didn’t stop one Pawleys Island Couple from tying the knot steps away from the ocean Thursday afternoon.
Jessica and Shane Kingsford said “I Do” in an intimate wedding at Pavilion Park. The couple planned to marry on Friday – but Mother Nature had other plans in mind.
“[We] didn’t expect it,” Jessica said. “Didn’t expect it at all. This is going to be a very memorable wedding .. for all of us!”
Both Jessica and Shane are local firefighters. They said they plan to stay in the Pawleys Island area over the weekend to ride out and help with the storm.
So what’s next for the couple? They hope to catch a flight to St. Thomas on Sunday and enjoy their honeymoon.
When we asked if they’ll make up for the big change in wedding day plans, the couple told News13 they hope to gather for a celebration with friends and family sometime next month.
