COLUMBIA, SC (WBTW) – SNAP recipients who were residing in the following counties at the time of Hurricane Matthew will automatically receive a replacement of a portion of their benefits and do not need to go to the DSS office to request replacement benefits:
Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell,Beaufort, Calhoun, Charleston, Chesterfield, Clarendon, Colleton, Darlington, Dillon, Dorchester, Florence, Georgetown, Hampton, Horry, Jasper, Lee, Marion, Marlboro, Orangeburg, Sumter, Williamsburg.
SNAP recipients in Richland and Berkeley Counties residing in the following zip codes at the time of the Hurricane will automatically receive a replacement of a portion of their benefits and do not need to go to the DSS office to request replacement benefits.
Richland: 29061, 29206, 29209
Berkeley: 29431, 29436, 29450, 29461
SNAP recipients in these areas whose benefits were issued between Oct. 1, 2016, and Oct. 7, 2016, will automatically receive 50 percent of their October SNAP benefits to replace food lost as a result of prolonged power outages.
Recipients who did not receive their October benefits before the storm will automatically receive 25 percent of their September SNAP benefits to replace food lost as a result of prolonged power outages.
The automatic replacement benefits will be available on eligible households’ EBT cards on or before Friday, Oct. 21, 2016.Information above from a press release from the DSS
