DARLINGTON, SC (WBTW) – The Darlington County School District says it’s going to host driver training classes next month because of a shortage in school bus drivers.

The drivers training class will be from November 14 to the 16 at the Darlington County Institute of Technology on Pinedale Drive. To be eligible, you have to be 18, have a high school diploma or GED.  You also have to have had a valid SC driver’s license for at least one year.

” We rely on them a lot schools rely on them a lot the teachers rely on the bus drivers a lot and some of them just can’t take that pressure and it takes a very special person to be bus drivers. The bus drivers we have working now are very hard working people,” Tony Thomas, Director of Transportation at Darlington County Schools, said.

The deadline to register for the class is November 10.
