The City of Myrtle Beach installed Clean Cube trash and recycling containers downtown.
The bins are solar-powered and notify the city’s solid waste team when they are full. City officials hope that will lower the number of collections required.
The Clean Cubes are in a test period right now and can be found in Plyer Park. City leaders tell News13 two more recycle-only Clean Cubes will be installed on 8th Avenue N and 9th Avenue N in the next two weeks.
The bins compact the items disposed in them and say, “thank you,” after something is dropped in.
“Our visitors, our vacationers from other places, are used to being able to recycle their products,” City of Myrtle Beach spokesman Mark Kruea said. “The easier we can make it for them to keep our community clean, the better off we will be.”
