BUFFALO, SC – A woman in Union County faces unlawful neglect charges after deputies say her two young children tested positive for drugs.
Chelsey Anna Vaughan, 24, is charged with two counts of unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person by the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident report states hair samples of Vaughan, her six-year-old son and her four-year-old child were taken by the Department of Social Services on October 20.
Sheriff’s deputies had the case referred to them by DSS after the all three samples tested positive for drugs. The drugs identified among the woman and two children included amphetamines, meth, marijuana and cocaine.
Vaughan was being held Thursday morning in the Union County Detention Center.
