MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)- The Home Depot has partnered with the Canine Angels, Inc. to transform the homes of several Myrtle Beach-Area Veterans.

Chris Skinner is a quadriplegic Army veteran- turned-motivational speaker who uses the challenges of his life to inspire others. Skinner has a sox-pound Canine Angel named Zoey and is married to his physical therapist, Suzie Skinner. The volunteers will upgrade the couple’s home to improve wheelchair access and make it easier for Chris to keep up with their 8-year-old twins.

“It means the world to me to have Home Depot come out and help me out today,” Skinner said. “You’re changing not just my life, you’re changing my wife’s life and my kid’s life and my dogs life, seriously.”

This local volunteer project is part of the company’s annual Celebration of Service campaign, a nationwide effort led by Team Depot, The Home Depot’s associate-led volunteer force, to give back to veterans between September 1 and Veterans Day.

In addition to Team Depot’s efforts, The Home Depot Foundation is pledging to grow its commitment to veteran-related causes to a quarter of a billion dollars by 2020.
