FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – A Florence lottery winner says they might wait until Christmas to tell the kids about his $100,000 Powerball win.
According to lottery officials, he held onto his winning ticket for nearly a month before he finally came to collect the prize Thursday.
The Powerball ticket matched four of the first five white numbers and the red Powerball number drawn on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Because he spent the extra $1 for PowerPlay, his prize doubled to $100,000.
“I might buy a car,” he said.
The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball number are 1 in 913,129.
The ticket was purchased from Maxwell Street Grocery Inc. in Florence, and for selling the winning ticket, the store received a commission of $1,000.
The estimated jackpot for Saturday night’s Powerball drawing is $217 million.Information above from a press release
