FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – The City of Florence approved an $180,000 incentive package to encourage the development of a brewery and pub in Downtown Florence.
Florence City Council approved the business during its meeting on Monday.
“Local Motive Brewery” will open next year on North Dargan Street.
The addition makes a total of three breweries in Florence and creates another stop along the revitalized downtown area.
City officials say the brewery and restaurant will be an investment of half a million dollars in Downtown Florence.
“Millennials love the kind of local beer scene. This is something Florence has really been pushing. We certainly have enjoyed the success of Southern Hops and Seminar. This is a third one that really kind of shows the direction that Florence is moving in,” said Florence City Manager Drew Griffin.
Construction on the new brewery is expected to be complete by spring 2017.
