FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office say they have arrested one man in connection to a robbery that happened at a Pamplico Grocery Store.
Major Michael Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office says 47-year-old Edward Eugene Dewitt of Pamplico was charged with armed robbery, failure to stop for blue lights, driving under suspension and possession of cocaine.
Dewitt entered Poston’s Superette on North Old River Road Dec. 3 at 3:24 p.m. armed with a knife and took money from the cash register, deputies say.
The suspect fled the store, but the owner provided a description of the suspect and his vehicle to investigators. A short time later, deputies tried to stop a car matching that description near Pamplico. The suspect refused to stop and led deputies on a chase that ended near Johnsonville where Dewitt was arrested.
Dewitt is currently being held at the Florence County Detention Center on a $50,000.00 bond.
