CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Monday people across Horry County came together for two memorial services, one for Baby Grace and the other for Baby boy Horry.
Baby boy Horry was found in a bag in some woods off Highway 544 between Socastee and Conway eight years ago yesterday. Baby Grace was only five months old when she was found dead in a Socastee creek a year ago.
“We today celebrated the lives of Baby Horry and Baby Grace in a memorial service here at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway. I remember the whole community was just saddened by what they have found. We wondered what was going through minds of the mother. If her family even knew that she were expecting or maybe she was from out of town and came here to leave the baby,” Wayne Brown, Interim pastor at First Baptist Church North Myrtle Beach said.
“It was another tragic ending to such a young life and I think that it’s good that we bring awareness to that especially at Christmas time. I think the timing of this is so important as well,” performer Laura Bronski said.
“I’m just honored to be a part of this service and I’m appreciative to Robert Edge and Chris of the Coroner’s Office who originally called me about helping and of course as we come together each year not only to worship god together but to praise him for life and try to educate the community that as we reach up to god we also should reach out each other and that is not only in compassion but also in ministry and service and helping things like this to not have to happen again as we as a community try to minister to one another,” Brown said.
