GEORGETOWN,SC (WBTW)– A  man from Conway pleaded guilty Monday to murder in the 2015 shooting death of a 27-year-old.

Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson announced Monday in a press release that Dennis Cumbee, 23, of Conway pleaded guilty to the murder of Tory Thomas before Circuit Court Judge Benjamin Culbertson.

Cumbee was scheduled for trial in January 2017, but chose to plead guilty to his charge. He was sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Thomas was shot five times on April 7, 2015 after an argument at a party on South Alex Alford Drive in Georgetown. According to the press release, Cumbee surrendered to police three days later.
