LUMBGERTON, NC (WBTW) – Lumberton Police arrested three men after several shots were fired into a home on Bakersfield Drive Wednesday morning.

According to Captain Terry Parker, officers responded to the 3100 block of Bakersfield Drive around 11:32 a.m. Wednesday morning. Officers arrived and began to search the wooded area behind the home for the suspects. Assisting in the search was the Investigator for the Robeson County District Attorney, NC Highway Patrol and the division’s helicopter, and the Robeson County Sheriff’s Department.

Three men were located and charged in connection with the shooting.

Edward Shaquille Alford, 23, of Lumberton, Carl Anthony Jones, 31, of Rowland, and Alphonso Benjamin, 51, of Rowland, are each charged with three counts of attempted first degree murder, three counts of assault of deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of firearm by felon, two counts of felony intimidating a witness, nine counts of felony conspiracy, discharging weapon into occupied property, injury to real property, and injury to person property.

Bond has been set at $200 million for each suspect. All three men are currently booked into the Robeson County Detention Center.

Maps of the area confirm the location of this shooting is roughly one block away from the homicide that occurred Tuesday night on St. James Drive. Despite proximity, Lumberton Police have not indicated that the two shootings are connected.
