LONGS AREA, SC (WBTW) – Horry County fire crews used Google coordinates to find a camper in the woods after a call for chest pains.
Dispatchers took a call for a man with chest pains at 10:50 a.m. Friday, according to a post on Horry County Fire Rescue’s Facebook page. The man was reportedly camping in the woods near Waccamaw Lane and Loop Circle in Longs, and got there by canoe.
Crews used Google coordinates to find the man and get him to a hospital.
“Due to the lack of an address in the middle of the woods, our wonderful and resourceful dispatchers were able to hone in on the location using Google coordinates, getting our first-responders where they needed to be,” the post said. “Boat 140 and our crews on the scene were able to get to the man, and ultimately transport him to Grand Strand Medical Center.”
“This wasn’t a typical call, but through teamwork, we were able to deliver care. Great job to all involved,” the post added.
